Yeshua was clearly a fulfillment of prophecy that was signaled since the time of Adam and Eve in the garden. We see some brief highlights in Matthew 4 as he begins His ministry.
Perhaps the bigger message not to miss is in verse 17. Repent. This means changing our attitudes and actions to be more like Christ, more like what YHWH has commanded. This was the message of John the Baptist a few chapters earlier. This is the message of Christ as He started His ministry. This continued to be His message throughout His ministry.
We should genuinely take heed and prayerfully reflect on what seems to be such a simple message, but is truly transformative in our lives if we live it out.
Jesus Begins His Ministry
12Now when Jesus heard that John had been taken into custody, He withdrew into Galilee; 13and leaving Nazareth, He came and settled in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali. 14This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet:
15“THE LAND OF ZEBULUN AND THE LAND OF NAPHTALI,
BY THE WAY OF THE SEA, BEYOND THE JORDAN, GALILEE OF THE GENTILES—
16“THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SITTING IN DARKNESS SAW A GREAT LIGHT,
AND THOSE WHO WERE SITTING IN THE LAND AND SHADOW OF DEATH,
UPON THEM A LIGHT DAWNED.”
17From that time Jesus began to preach and say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
What are some specific things that you should address in your life? What is stopping you? Time to stop rationalizing and accepting it and ask YHWH for help and repent. We are to be fully submitted to YHWH. Yeshua shows us the way.
